Basketball
Basketball is a sport that takes a demanding degree of physical fitness, strength, agility, hand- eye coordination, skill, and technique. It is also a sport which demands its athletes to play both offense and defense. Many sports allow you to specialize in only one facet of the game and become successful in only performing one task (for example: a pitcher, a goalie, a long jumper, a quarterback). In basketball, however, no matter your position, you must be able to run the floor, jump, cut, defend, pass, shoot, dribble, score, and execute on both sides of the court.
The sport of basketball is also exceptionally accessible to every economic group; and neither sex nor race inhibits a person from participating in this challenging and enjoyable sport. One can practice and play basketball alone or with a group, in or outside a gym.
CGA has had clients from ages 5 to 45 make use of our services for a variety of reasons. But, most clients come to us because they participate in organized basketball and they are trying to improve upon their skills so that they can go to the next level of play. The highschooler wants to make varsity and earn a college scholarship; the college player is interested in the pros. However, CGA has had younger clients. We have provided our services to boys and girls who love this sport and want to become better players. Likewise, we have had older clients who want to improve so that they can enjoy the game more in their men and women’s leagues. Among our older clients are those who introduce basketball to children and youth. These clients take seriously their role of properly developing sports and life skills in their young athletes. Another description of a CGA client is someone who just wants to stay fit through a coached basketball workout.
CGA provides clinics for entire programs and not just teams. It is a benefit for a sports program to introduce to its players, at their earliest ages in organized play, a focus on learning the fundamentals of playing the game of basketball. While it is true that bad habits and one’s muscle memory can be corrected at any age, it is best to get it right from the beginning. Part of getting things right from the beginning is providing clinics for all levels in a basketball program, not limiting coaching attention to just a particular or current team. The comprehensiveness and cohesiveness of program clinics help facilitate program goals for growth and winning seasons. To sign up for a clinic from the "shooting scientist" contact us today.
The game of basketball is such a skilled sport that one must learn the fundamentals of the game. Without a good foundation, a player does not reach his or her full potential. The good news is that no matter where a person is in the playing of this sport, through good coaching and dedication on the part of the player, he or she can get grounded in the fundamentals. At CGA we pride ourselves in bringing to our clients an approach that improves and strengthens in them the art and the execution of the fundamentals of basketball.
